Meet the leadership team guiding our credit union

Jamie Malthus

Chair

Director Since: 2018

Term Expiration: 2027

"It is a privilege to work with NSCU in support of the well-being of our members and communities."

Background/Experience:
Jamie is a professional engineer with the Prince Rupert Port Authority with over eight years of management level experience. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration. Jamie brings his knowledge of working on various capital projects, managing the Port’s asset management department, strong effective communication skills and strategic planning experience to the Board.

 

 

Kim
Mushynsky

Director

Background/Experience:
Kim is the former Chief Administrator for the Village of Port Clements. Kim has over 30 years of experience
as an Administrator, specifically in accounting. Kim worked in the retail cooperative sector for over 15 years.
Kim has served terms on three other boards. Kim has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and
a degree in Municipal Government Management. Kim brings governance, critical thinking and financial experience to the Board.

 

Angela Gruber

Director

Background/Experience:
Angela is a manager with the Prince Rupert Port Authority with over 15 years experience in Information Technology. Angela has the following certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert: Data Management and Analytics, and IT Information Library (ITIL) Foundations. Angela brings knowledge of project management and Information Technology to the Board.

Joseph Lavoie

Background/Experience:
Joe has over 21 years of business experience both in retail and wholesale divisions, including telecommunications and real estate. Joe holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and General Business and has previous commercial banking experience. Joe is skilled in leadership and succession planning and oversaw a multi-million infrastructure project. Joe brings a business perspective and acumen to the Board.

 

Sylvan
Daugert

Director

Director Since: 2019

Term Expiration: 2025

"I believe in the values of co-operatives and unions. I appreciated being able to represent Northern Savings'  members and employees."

Background/Experience:
Sylvan provides services as a Superintendent of Public Works, providing skills within a collaborate decision making processes and implementing the vision of the mayor and council. Sylvan also serves on the boards of the GwaiiTel Society and the Scholarship Foundation of the Pacific. He is a long-time volunteer with the Masset Fire Department, math tutor and rugby coaching. Sylvan has the aptitude to analyze information and a strong understanding of effective decision-making processes.

 

Patrick Robins

Director

"As a long time Northern Savings member and having grown up in Prince Rupert, I am excited to bring my skill set and perspective to the Board while being appreciative of the opportunity to continually learning with the credit union.”

Background/Experience:
Patrick’s career over the past 20 years extends to roles as a City Manager, CEO, CFO and Corporate Officer within the public and private sectors. He is the principal with the consulting firm Woodland-Robins providing governance, business, and strategic planning to a wide range of government, private and not-for-profit sector clients. Patrick holds formal education and credentials in business, and brings accounting and management skills to the Board.

Mimmo Ciccone

Director

Background/Experience:
Mimmo is a manager with the Ministry of Solicitor General, providing counselling, case management and risk assessment services to court-ordered offenders. Mimmo provides consultation to probation officers, social workers, community agencies and caregivers who are involved in service provision to offenders. Mimmo’s personal values are strongly aligned with the Credit Union’s vision and mission, and its focus on working in the best interests of the membership.

 

Beng Leng
Favreau

Director

Background/Experience:
As the current Executive Director of Literacy Haida Gwaii Society, Beng Leng works closely with seniors, at-risk youth, and adults in many areas of literacy including, Adult Graduation Diploma, financial wellness, workplace readiness and essential computer skills. Her work experience provides community relations and management skills to the Board and includes; fundraising, event management, resource development, and community service. Beng Leng has strong working relationships with Haida Gwaii’s First Nation’s councils, municipalities, educational, healthcare, and nonprofit organizations with extended educational and arts network across Canada.

 

Michael Tilson

Director

Director Since: 2023

Term Expiration: 2026

"The credit union’s unique and personalized service for its members helped me early on in life. Now I’m proud to serve as a member of the board helping to maintain that same great ethos."

Background/Experience:
Michael’s background includes study in business, natural resources, geomorphology, physics, chemistry and environmental science. As the CEO of Chu Cho Environmental (business wholly owned by Tsay Keh Dene Nation), he is a decision maker, expected to de-risk projects, grow the business, create new opportunities, develop professional relationships and enhance the image and impact of the business. Michael brings a full depth of skills and experience to the Board.
