Credit Card Transition

As previously communicated, Northern Savings recently switched credit card providers and in January 2018, Northern Savings unveiled a new suite of Mastercard® credit cards.


Your Northern Savings CUETS Mastercard will stop working on Friday, June 15 around 10:00pm and your new Northern Savings Collabria Mastercard can then be activated.

UPDATE - JUNE 18

We are pleased to announce that our credit card transition was a success this weekend and we know that members have started to receive and activate their new Collabria Mastercards.

However, we have been informed by our supplier that some members did not/will not receive the correct card. Here are the cards that may be impacted (note, not all the cards listed below are impacted just some of them):

The Low Fee and Low Rate with CHOICE REWARDS that went to the Collabria Classic previously had CHOICE REWARDS points, the Collabria Classic card does not have the points benefit.

Impacted cardholders will be receiving notification shortly and will be advised that they can activate their new Classic cards and use them as they normally would. A new card will be sent to the affected members and once received they can activate their new card and destroy their old Classic card. All points will be transferred over from their CHOICE REWARDS and any new point accumulated with the new Classic card will also be transferred.

Some members, who had the Low Fee Gold with no CHOICE REWARDS cards, received a Centra Gold Collabria card. With the Centra Gold card members will get a lower interest rate than both their previous CUETS card and the Collabria Classic card; however, their Centra Gold does have the ability to collect points and has a higher annual fee. Collabria is offering to pay the difference in annual fee for a one-year period should cardholders want to try out this card. Cardholders can call Collabria at: 1.855.341.4643 to have their annual fee for the year reduced.

All cardholders are able to switch cards if the card they received is not the right fit for them. We encourage members to review their new card’s features and benefits and if they have questions or want to switch cards, contact Collabria at: 1.855.341.4643.

We thank our cardholders greatly for their patience during this transition. We understand that there have been some obstacles, but we anticipate moving forward, that this will be a great product offering for our members.

Step 1 - Receive Your New Card & PIN

  • When your new card arrives, place it in a safe location until it can be activated on or after June 15 at 10:00pm
  • When your new PIN arrives, place it in a secure location, separate from your new card
  • Continue to use your Northern Savings CUETS Mastercard until June 15

Step 2 - Activate Your New Card

On June 15, 2018, at approximately 10:00pm you will be able to activate your new Northern Savings Collabria Mastercard. You can activate your card in the following ways:

  • Call: 1.866.498.3840 - please note, when asked for your birthdate, you must enter the two digits of month and last two digits of your birth year
  • Online: www.mycardinfo.com
  • In-branch: stop by any of our branches during our regular hours of operation and our staff can help you get your card activated

Step 3 - Update Bill & Pre-Authorized Payments

  • Contact all the vendors you had payments set-up with (i.e. Netflix, Telus, Hydro, iTunes) and reset your payments with your new credit card information
  • Update your online banking by adding the new bill payment vendor, "Collabria Mastercard" and delete the old vendor "CUETS Financial Mastercard" - all payments moving forward can be made to the Collabria vendor

Step 4 - Use Your New Card

  • Once activated, your balance, history and rewards points (if applicable) will be transferred to your new card. You can start benefiting from all your new card features and benefits right away 
  • Register your account on northsave.mycardinfo.com to gain access to your Collabria card

PIN CHANGE

The first and best option for your PIN, is the PIN mailer that you receive. This mailer is sent out separately from the card and does not contain any identifying information tying it to the card for security purposes.

You may select a new, or different PIN via the “PIN Now” system, by calling 1.844.788.2725;

  • You will be prompted for information to validate they are the cardholder, and provide the new PIN you wish to use
  • When this step is complete, “PIN Now” will advise the PIN is accepted
  • PLEASE NOTE – as part of the validation process, when prompted for your phone number you must enter their PRIMARY phone number that is associated with your credit card

The next step will be to ACTIVATE the PIN either via a merchant at a point-of-sale (this activation prompt may occur up to three times) or via an ATM with the “change PIN” option (we reccomend doing this at a Northern Savings or other Credit Union ATM), or by completing a cash advance. Once this activation is complete, and the purchase authorized, and you have successfully changed, and activated your PIN and will be able to use their card elsewhere with the new PIN.

FAQs

WILL I GET A NEW CREDIT CARD? Expand/Collapse

Yes, you’ll get a new Mastercard® credit card and PIN mailer mailed to. The new card you receive will replace the current card you have today, meaning you won’t need to apply for a new Northern Savings Collabria Mastercard credit card. Should your new card not be the right fit, we can assist you in selecting another card.

WILL MY EXISTING CARD STOP WORKING? Expand/Collapse

Your existing card will work until about 10:00pm on Friday, June 15, 2018, after that it will stop working. Not to worry, you should have your Northern Savings Collabria Mastercard credit card in hand before then and it will work for you after you activate it.

WILL MY CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT INFORMATION CHANGE? Expand/Collapse

Yes, your card number, expiry date, and CVV will change after you receive and activate your new card in June 2018. It’s important you update any pre-authorized payments once your new card is activated. We’ll give you more details in the coming months.

WILL MY INTEREST RATE, ANNUAL FEES, BENEFITS AND FEATURES CHANGE? Expand/Collapse

Because we’ll be offering an entirely new suite of credit card products, you may see some differences in the interest rates, annual fees, features and benefits on your new card. We’ve done our best to select a new card for you that offers similar features to your current card.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO MY CREDIT CARD BALANCE? Expand/Collapse

We’re going to make this transition as seamless as possible and that means your credit card balance will transfer over to your new card in June 2018.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO MY CHOICE REWARDS® POINTS BALANCE? Expand/Collapse

For most of the card products, your entire CHOICE REWARDS points balance will convert over to Collabria’s loyalty program, FlexRewards, at a rate of 1:1. You can redeem your points for travel, merchandise, event tickets and much more. You can also redeem your accumulated CHOICE REWARDS points through the CHOICE REWARDS website until June 10, 2018. Any points left on your account after this date will convert automatically Collabria’s FlexRewards points.

Student or Low-Rate CUETS cards that have CHOICE REWARDS points will not transfer. Points must be redeemed by June 10, 2018 or the points will be lost. Your new Collabria card will not offer points. If you wish to upgrade to a Mastercard that offers rewards points, please contact Collabria at 1.855.341.4643, once you receive your new Collabria card.

WHAT ABOUT MY TRAVEL RESERVATIONS ON MY EXISTING CARD? Expand/Collapse

If you have previously booked travel or other reservations, keep your old CUETS Mastercard to verify these transactions. Otherwise you can destroy and dispose your old card.

I RECEIVED MY NEW CARD AND IT SAYS I CAN ACTIVATE IT RIGHT AWAY Expand/Collapse

We are aware that our supplier sent the new cards with an activation sticker on them that states you can activate your card right away; however, this is not correct. You must wait until after 10:00pm on June 15 to activate your new card. We apologize for this miscommunication.
