Equifax Breach Information

Equifax Inc., a credit reporting agency in Canada, the United States and United Kingdom has reported a cybersecurity breach of customer files. Equifax has confirmed that credit files from the United States have been accessed. While the bulk of the accounts affected are in the US, some Canadian files may have also been involved.

You can take steps to protect your information by obtaining a copy of your credit report from Equifax Canada and checking it for any abnormalities. Abnormalities which you identify should be reported to Equifax Canada directly and you can ask them to investigate the items. Additionally you can sign up for alerts and notifications so that you get notified any time there is an application or inquiry on your credit file.
